Events in June

The Queen and Prince Consort’s Boat Tour


Queen Margrethe II and Henrik, Prince Consort finished their three day boat “tour” around Denmark. Visiting Haderslev, Kerteminde, and Bogense. It started on June 4th until June 7th.

Crown Prince Frederik Greets the Chairman of the CPPCC

On June 6th, Crown Prince Frederik recieved Yu Zheng Sheng, chairman of the Chinese People's Political resounds Congress (CPPCC), the delegation of Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg.

A Wedding in Stockholm

On June 7th, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended the pre-wedding dinner of Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Chris O’Neill. In the morning of June 8th, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary flew into Stockholm.

Later that day, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim, and Princess Marie attended the wedding of Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill.

On June 10th, Crown Prince Frederik attended the official inauguration of the New House of Industry. Crown Prince Frederik also delievered a speech.

Later that evening, there was a celebration dinner. Queen Margrethe II, Henrik, Prince Consort; Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, and Prince Joachim were all present.

Prince Joachim in France

On June 15th, Prince Joachim was at the rededication of the AGF Cemetery in Braine, France.


Crown Princess Mary and Prince Christian take part in a Children Relay

On June 15th, Crown Princess Mary attended the Mary Foundation and Save the Children Free of Bullying Children Relay in Fælledparken, Copenhagen. Prince Christian took part in the event as well.

Henrik, Prince Consort is Given an Award!

On June 20th, Henrik, Prince Consort was awarded with the King Frederik IX's award for Excellence in Danish exports of the Dannebrog for a number of companies. I hope that's not the actual name of the award... that's a mouth full.

Princess Marie visits EU and NATO

On June 20th, Princess Marie visited the European Commission, NATO and the Danish Permanent Representation to the EU. The visit takes place through the Princess's related to Emergency Management Agency.

Henrik, Prince Consort at a Presentation

On June 20th, Henrik, Prince Consort presented the Danish Europa Nostra price of the Dannebrog.

The Dutch King and Queen come for a Visit

On June 25th, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visited Denmark.

Crown Princess Mary and Princess Benedikte visits Aachen

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Princess Benedikte visited Aachen from June 24th to June 25th.

On June 30th, Queen Margrethe II and Henrik, Prince Consort arrived at Marselisborg Castle at Aarhus Harbour in the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.

Crown Prince Frederik in Greenland

On June 27th, Crown Prince Frederik was at Station North (which is 800 km away from the North Pole). Station North is one of the world's most advanced research station in the Arctic.

Queen Margrethe II at the Inauguration of the new UN City

On July 4th, Queen Margrethe II met with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon and the Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt. On the 4th, Copenhagen is now an official UN City.

The Crown Princely Couple to Visit Australia

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will visit Australia from October 25th to October 28th. The main reason for their visit is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House. According to an Australian friend, Crown Princess Mary “is homesick” and “can’t wait to get home”. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary made their last visit to Australia back in 2011.

May 29: Funeral of Count Christian of Rosenborg

On May 29th, Queen Margrethe, Henrik, Prince Consort; Princess Benedikte, and Princess Marie attended the funeral of Count Christian of Rosenborg.

May 28-30: Crown Princess Mary in Malaysia

Crown Princess Mary visited Malaysia from May 28-30th to speak at the Women Deliver 3rd Global Conference. The trip was also to visit social projects and participate in trade promotion activites.
On May 29th, Crown Princess Mary visited the U[nited]N[ations] refugee agency UNHCR.
In the afternoon, Crown Princess Mary visited the Crown Princess Chin Center for Crafts, where refugee women from Burma told about their work at the center and showed handicrafts.
Crown Princess visited the Women's Institute of Management and was introduced to the place of work on violence prevention and HIV prevention programs for marginalized women.
In the evening attended the Crown Princess in business gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

May 21: Count Christian of Rosenborg Passed Away

On May 21, Count Christian of Rosenborg, the cousin of Queen Margrethe II, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, and Princess Benedikte passed away at the age of 70.

May 23: Crown Prince Frederik at an Exhibition

On May 23, Crown Prince Frederik opened the exhibition: "Inventions - an idea can change the world" in Experimentarium in Hellerup. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight some of Denmark's greatest inventors and technological innovations.
