New Year's Court 2013 - Day 1

January 1, 2013

First of all, Happy New Years to everyone, I hope it's full of love, laughter, and happiness.
The Danish Royals, like always attended New Year's Court. Tomorrow (January 3), and the day after (January 4) will have more dresses. Sadly, no more tiaras. Queen Margrethe, Prince Henrik, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, and Prince Joachim were in attendance. As well as, Princess Marie since last year she didn't attend because she was waiting for her child (Princess Athena) to be born.
If you haven't noticed already, Margrethe is wearing a new tiara. I've said a bit about this tiara back in June. But, that was over 6 months ago, so you might have forgotten. It was given to Margrethe for her Ruby Jubilee last year. Today, she's debuting it for the first time. The dress is a repeat from her Ruby Jubilee last year.

Mary wore a repeat Jesper Høvring dress from 2010. She is again, wearing her Ruby Parure (The Danish Ruby Parure Tiara). The thing I love about Mary having this tiara, is that she mixes it up. There are many different ways to wear the earrings and necklace, and she just has fun playing around with them.
Marie is back from her maternity leave that she had last year. She's in a new hot pink dress, which I don't really fancy. She's wearing her Diamond Floral Tiara. I wish she would have worn Marie's French Lily Tiara. It was made for Marie, it was finished last year, and I'm sure Marie has possesion over it. It's a really cute story on why it was made, and I would have loved for her to wear it. The Story:
"There once was a lily [Marie]. It was a beautiful flower that grew on the sides of the French mountains. It swayed gently in the summer breeze and let the dew dance on its slender petals. One day, a young Danish prince[Joachim] passed the lovely flower, picked it, and took it with him to his kingdom, and an adventure was born.

It was from this story that the idea of creating a special tiara dedicated to Princess Marie using the design of a French lily came about. In collaboration with Marie and the Flora Danica designer Anja Blinkenberg, they created a fantastic tiara which tells the beautiful love story between Marie Cavallier and His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark in an elegant and simple design.

The tiara is created in silver and consists of three naturalistic lilies, symbolizing the Princess, her husband and their son. Beautiful small silver threads spring from the each of the lilies center and end up as glittering stamens decorated with small diamonds. As a special personal greeting to Princess Marie and using her favorite stone - amethyst - Flora Danica have delicately placed 25 beautiful amethyst balls amongst the diamonds." - Flora Danica
